I’m addicted to Argan Oil

Ginger Pelz

Argan OilWhen I accidentally knocked over my brand new bottle of Josie Maran Argan Oil yesterday and proceeded to sop up the puddle of oil with my hands and feverishly rub it all over my face and body as to not waste the Precious, I realized I had a problem.

You see, I am one of those people who has perpetually dry skin. Couple that with living in dry, dry, Colorado, and you have someone desperate for some legitimate moisture.

I started using Argan Oil

about a year or so ago as a face moisturizer and instantly fell in love. It’s not thick or greasy which I find a lot of creamy face moisturizers are. I started using it morning and night and noticed how my skin started to become healthy-looking and even appeared to be radiating from within. Me — my skin — what?

From there, it was just a matter of time before I grew more addicted. Before I knew it, I had so many more of Josie’s products added to my collection. I now have Josie Maran’s Argan Balm as a cuticle treatment (and I occasionally slather it on my dry feet before bedtime), the Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter as body lotion (you can seriously feel it instantly absorbing into your skin), and I regularly keep a stock pile of her Bear Naked Wipes as makeup remover wipes because not only do they swiftly remove even my thick cat-eye liner, but they also have some of the delicious Argan Oil in them. I have noticed that sometimes I just continue to rub the wipes all over my face long after any makeup residue is gone just because it feels so darn good. I also secretly (well, not so secret anymore) add a few drops of oil to my bubble baths (which are becoming my new favorite thing) because your whole body feels silky smooth afterward.

Basically, I have been spoiled for any other moisturizer.

One downside: no SPF. (I use Dr. Jart+ BB cream with SPF 25 every day on top of my Argan Oil, so this isn’t a major issue for me.) Josie did develop a moisturizer cream to alleviate this issue which is at SPF 45, which I also own, but it’s too thick for me to personally want to use on a daily basis. However, when I don’t wear BB cream, I’ll slather some of her moisturizing cream over the oil to make sure my face is protected. And, actually, I think it has been discontinued because I can’t find it online anywhere now.

Do you use Argan Oil? Which products do you love?

Coconut oil is a great moisturizer, too!

I loooove me some argan oil! In addition to the oil dropper I also use Josie Maran’s tinted moisturizer with SPF and for those times I need more coverage, her argan oil-based foundation with SPF. I was also recently gifted the whipped body butter with a bit of bronzer in it (hello, summer). Argan oil is basically the bee’s knees. Great post, Ginger!

I got into Argan Oil about 6 months ago when my brother brought some back from Morocco where he had been working for a while.
I have used it on my face and hair mainly and the result is skin that actually has some elasticity again and hai that looks full of life….pause for silly jokes all round…..As the old Remington advert used to say….”we liked it so much we bought the company…well not quite…but we have started importing and bottling our own brand and have enlisted the help of writer and presenter Lindsay McKinnon to be our front person.
The brand name is Golden Amber Argan Oil and you can search us on Google. We have done some videos about using argan in body and face scrubs and hair and face masks.
I hope you dont mind me using this platform to tell you about our product …. I am a convert and can not speak too highly of Argan Oil and it’s properties.
