When I accidentally knocked over my brand new bottle of Josie Maran Argan Oil yesterday and proceeded to sop up the puddle of oil with my hands and feverishly rub it all over my face and body as to not waste the Precious, I realized I had a problem.
You see, I am one of those people who has perpetually dry skin. Couple that with living in dry, dry, Colorado, and you have someone desperate for some legitimate moisture.
I started using Argan Oil about a year or so ago as a face moisturizer and instantly fell in love. It’s not thick or greasy which I find a lot of creamy face moisturizers are. I started using it morning and night and noticed how my skin started to become healthy-looking and even appeared to be radiating from within. Me — my skin — what?
From there, it was just a matter of time before I grew more addicted. Before I knew it, I had so many more of Josie’s products added to my collection. I now have Josie Maran’s Argan Balm as a cuticle treatment (and I occasionally slather it on my dry feet before bedtime), the Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter as body lotion (you can seriously feel it instantly absorbing into your skin), and I regularly keep a stock pile of her Bear Naked Wipes as makeup remover wipes because not only do they swiftly remove even my thick cat-eye liner, but they also have some of the delicious Argan Oil in them. I have noticed that sometimes I just continue to rub the wipes all over my face long after any makeup residue is gone just because it feels so darn good. I also secretly (well, not so secret anymore) add a few drops of oil to my bubble baths (which are becoming my new favorite thing) because your whole body feels silky smooth afterward.
Basically, I have been spoiled for any other moisturizer.
One downside: no SPF. (I use Dr. Jart+ BB cream with SPF 25 every day on top of my Argan Oil, so this isn’t a major issue for me.) Josie did develop a moisturizer cream to alleviate this issue which is at SPF 45, which I also own, but it’s too thick for me to personally want to use on a daily basis. However, when I don’t wear BB cream, I’ll slather some of her moisturizing cream over the oil to make sure my face is protected. And, actually, I think it has been discontinued because I can’t find it online anywhere now.
Do you use Argan Oil? Which products do you love?
